Voice Memos Makes Return to App Catalog
Voice Memos was pulled from the Palm App Catalog on February 12th because of an issue with Palm. The issue was that Palm did not properly allow me to flag the app as requiring webOS 2.0.0 or above. This wasn’t an issue for me (because Palm’s word to us as developers was to release it with a stern warning) until they announced that the “legacy devices” would not receive 2.0.0. This was an issue because people could purchase the app and never be able to use it (unless they purchased a new device that was capable of 2.0.0).
Thankfully, Palm added 2.0.0 as a minimum webOS version flag yesterday, which allowed us to resubmit Voice Memos to the App Catalog.
Voice Memos has made a return to the Palm App Catalog today, and is expected to be available to all devices running HP webOS 2.0.0 or greater soon.

I have noticed that voice memo delete function is not actually working on my Pre2 under ver 1.0.4.
The app appears to delete the recording using the swipe delete. Yet if you check the hidden data file .VoiceMemosForWebOS the files are still resident under the Dir.

Jeff,
There was a bug in webOS 2.0 that caused the necessary method for deleting files to not work if you updated the app. This bug should have been fixed in webOS 2.1, so an updated version of Voice Memos will soon be sent to Palm for review. This new version will include the “service” that allows for memos to be properly deleted from the device.
Thank you,

Charley,
What device and webOS version are you using? If you have a Verizon Pre 2 with webOS 2.0.1, then you will not see it due to a webOS limitation with regards to file deletion requirements. In order for Voice Memos to delete the file off of your device when you delete the memo, a custom “service” had to be made to delete the file, which requires webOS 2.1.0 due to a webOS bug that could cause the app to not function when you update it through the App Catalog while the service is running.
Thank you,
